New York Partners Steven C. Beer and Richard “Rip” A. Beyman will present two sessions on the legal elements essential to film production and rethinking film distribution post-pandemic at the upcoming Lake Placid Film Festival in New York’s Adirondack Region on Friday, October 22.
In a session at 11:30 a.m. titled “Film Law Basics (10 Things You Need to Know Before You Produce Your Film),” Mr. Beer and Mr. Beyman will address rights acquisitions and film production agreements, with a focus on the material deal points common to most independent film contracts.
In a following session at 2:30 p.m. titled “Rethinking Film Distribution in a Post-Pandemic Landscape,” the pair will provide an overview of the changing landscape for distributing independent films and discuss the range of options available to filmmakers for the distribution of their content. They will also discuss the increasing role of streaming independent films.
The Lake Placid Film Festival is an annual October event by Adirondack Film, an organization that presents high-quality independent, art, foreign language, documentary, and high-end studio films not typically shown at major multiplex screens.
